### Street Dance (the specialism)
Real street dance: hip hop, locking, waacking, house, old school. Lived culture. Foundation styles trace specific lineages — house (Chicago, late 70s), locking (Don Campbell, LA, 1970s), waacking (LA disco floors), old school (Bronx and Brooklyn block parties, mid-70s). Teachers carry real credits including Britain's Got Talent semi-final 2022, World Hip Hop Championship final 2019, and the Adam Lambert tour 2023. ## Who it's for

## Founder

Dionne Dalton opened HK Dance Studios in 2003, at 18, because nobody else in Essex was teaching street dance properly. Twenty-three years later she still books every trial, runs every venue handover, and answers the phone herself. When you book, you hear from her, not a receptionist.

2. Come to the class. Free, no card needed. Comfy clothes, water bottle. Parents welcome to sit on the side and watch.
3. Tell us if your child loved it. If yes, the timetable arrives, no deposit. If not, no hard feelings.

The first class is free, no card needed. After that, pricing is laid out in full on /pricing — pay-as-you-go from £10, frequency-based monthly passes up to Unlimited and Ultimate, and a 50% sibling discount. No surprises, no joining deposit.

### How much do classes cost?
The first class is free, no card needed. After that the full pricing is on /pricing: pay-as-you-go from £10, monthly passes by frequency, and a 50% sibling discount. No deposit.

### What ages do you teach?
Two-and-a-half through grown adult, in age bands: HK Tots (2.5–4), HK Minis (5–7), HK Juniors (8–12), Teens (13+), Adults (16+), plus the Elite Team. Tell us your child's age when you book and we match them to the right class.

### Do you do competitions, or just classes?
Both. Most students come for the love of it. Some progress into the HK Crew and compete at Nationals and Worlds. No-one is required to do either; the trial class is a normal class.

### What if my child is shy or has never danced before?
Most kids in their first class have never danced before. We start with a warm-up and a name game. No spotlight, no audition. Parents are welcome to sit on the side. By the second class your child will know two of the other kids' names. By the fourth, they'll know everyone.

### Is street dance the same as hip hop?
No. Street dance is the umbrella term for a family of styles: hip hop, locking, waacking, house, old school. Hip hop is one foundation. We teach all five.

### Do you run holiday camps?
Yes, separate from term-time classes, running across school holidays at the Billericay HQ. Listed separately from the regular timetable.

### Who teaches the street dance classes?
